Summary

iPhone users are a mobile lot, relying on their devices for much. However, Forrester’s data shows that 75% of email from users of Apple smartphones still happens at their desk. The smartphone extends the user’s experience and allows him or her to remain connected to tools like email but does not supplant the traditional computer for the majority of users. Furthermore, regardless of the device type or associated platform, most users agree that their “computer? is at work and their smartphone allows them to use applications when away from their desk; very few cited the ease of using their mobile device over their computer. Smartphones are facilitating changes in the way that information workers connect to applications and data, but we’re a ways off from them replacing the primary computing devices -- the computers -- of most users.
