Forrester's 2008 software study was fielded to 2,227 IT executives and technology decision-makers located in Canada, France, Germany, the UK, and the US from companies with 2 or more employees. The purpose of this study was to analyze trends in enterprise and small and medium-size business (SMB) software purchasing and technology adoption. The survey probed topic areas including software budgeting, leading-edge technologies, SMB purchasing, open source software, Web 2.0, packaged applications, software-as-a-service (SaaS), service-oriented architecture (SOA), infrastructure and platform software, and custom software development. This data chart analyzes who do SMBs and enterprises regard as their most influential party when making their software purchasing decisions.
