Summary

Although cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) is taking off in the United States, it faces some struggle in Europe where strict privacy laws place rigid limitations on the movement of information beyond the borders of the 27-country EU. These regulatory requirements coupled with Europe's socioeconomic realities demand that European I&O professionals take an alternate approach to IaaS adoption if they hope to realize the benefits of the cloud even within the existing framework.
