Summary

We're seeing the growing interest of large European enterprises in IP video along with unified communications (UC). In conversations with Forrester, several European IT clients said that video — specifically integrated multitier IP videoconferencing — will be an important driver of UC adoption by large European enterprises. Most large firms in Europe that have deployed immersive telepresence rooms (tier one video) are now looking at vendor solutions and providers to enable integration of telepresence with their HD rooms (tier two video) and also with desktop video (tier three video) for complete videoconferencing capability. IT sourcing groups are being tasked by business leadership to identify a comprehensive solution that leverages existing investments as far as possible. European firms with distributed organizations also require a synchronized sourcing strategy that includes UC conferencing and collaboration alongside IP video. IT SVM groups need to join forces and work closely with business stakeholders to develop a short-term and longer-term integrated IP video and UC road map.
