Summary

IT budgets in the Asia Pacific region are hardly immune to the economic downturn — even in those economies witnessing growth, the IT spend is down. From January to March 2009, Forrester surveyed 774 senior IT executives at enterprises with more than 500 employees in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, India, China, Singapore, and Vietnam to determine their IT priorities for the year ahead. The typical IT budget will decrease — but averages do not tell the whole truth. In effect, a "two-speed" IT economy is emerging as some companies continue to invest rapidly in IT systems, while others make deep budget cuts. Either way, CIOs in Asia Pacific will be judged on their ability to help create or unlock value from their organizations in order to deliver this value to their customers.
