Summary

Business-to-business (B2B) eCommerce continues to evolve and expand aggressively for certain industries and products. The US B2B eCommerce market is worth approximately $829 billion today, and we expect it to reach $1.2 trillion over the next five years. Forrester defines B2B eCommerce selling as purchases made online but through non-EDI traditional methods. Although the B2B eCommerce market is much larger than B2C eCommerce (as detailed in our consumer online retail forecasts), its growth is keeping pace. This forecast details B2B eCommerce’s evolution across 11 durable and non-durable product categories, with historical data going back to 2008. This forecast illustrates the share of B2B eCommerce growth for each product category as well as channel distribution (such as distributor versus manufacturer-direct selling).
