While the mobile interface becomes further integrated into everyday facets of living and working, merchants are increasingly looking for ways to attract customers, boost transactions, and improve the existing customer experience. Today, mobile's commerce functionality is more than just delivering products from the warehouse to the customer's home. As such, this forecast expands the mobile payment definition to capture nontangible goods purchases, namely remote commerce activity in services industries. While all forms of digital payments still lag behind paper and physical charge cards, overall mobile payments will grow at a 22.4% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) through 2019, with in-person payments growing the fastest.
