Summary
Investments in analytics and business intelligence, mobile devices and applications, and collaborative applications are the leading IT investment priorities for businesses in 2011, with infrastructure consolidation and virtualization and security upgrades in the second tier. That is the headline finding from Forrester's Forrsights Budgets And Priorities Tracker Survey, Q2 2011, fielded to more than 2,700 IT executives and technology budget decision-makers around the world. The survey also found that adoption of employee-driven tools is rapidly expanding, but firms are hesitant to invest in a much-needed infrastructure overhaul. While mobility and collaboration tools are seeing increased adoption globally, the implementation of X-as-a-service (XaaS) is lagging behind interest. Vendors should promote the importance of new infrastructure solutions that will underpin the expanding, employee-driven adoption of mobile and collaboration technologies.
