Summary
COVID-19 is spreading globally, affecting life in more than 200 countries. Our #pandemicEX research project aims to understand how employees are experiencing this. Forrester’s Q1 2020 European PandemicEX Survey reveals the employee experience of 199 Italian adults working part or full time during the COVID-19 crisis. With Italy having the highest number of COVID-19 related deaths globally, the pandemic has left Italian employees unhappy and pessimistic: 42% fear their government isn’t doing enough, and 45% fear their firms will make redundancies. Firms’ lack of pandemic planning is showing: Italy was among the first countries in the world to adopt emergency measures, yet only 48% of Italian employees believe their companies put in place strategies to manage the crisis. Many Italians have embraced working from home, but productivity issues hamper almost a third of new homeworkers. As employees embrace home working, Skype, Dropbox, and Microsoft Teams remain the top three options for Italian employees now.
