In a world of smartphones, smart cars, smart buildings, and smart cities, how do touchscreen, mobile, sensor, big data, and other smart technologies apply to the conference room? Although technology management has been more preoccupied with supporting telecommuting and remote work for the past five years, Forrester is seeing a resurgence of interest in technology's role in the physical workplace. This report provides a brief overview of new in-room technologies that improve collaboration and new tools that optimize meeting-room booking processes and utilization — something we call meeting-room space management (MRSM).
