The complexity of internal enterprise application environments will continue to increase the attractiveness of hosted applications/software-as-a-service (SaaS), especially to business units, in order to satisfy discrete line-of-business requirements (e.g., franchisee/channel support, customer self-service, digital marketing, and selected HR functions). Even so, through 2010, the emphasis for the vast majority of incumbent enterprise software vendors will be on providing a blend of traditional on-premise enterprise software plus software-related services, at best, rather than "software-as-a-service" (SaaS).
