Inquiry Spotlight: Mobile Device Management, Q2 2009

As businesses embrace mobility, IT operations professionals must decide how best to manage and secure their increasingly mobile and distributed population. Faced with shrinking budgets and growing demand for device diversity, mobile device management (MDM) and security are top of mind for many of our clients. Of the 1,562 inquiries fielded by Forrester's IT infrastructure and operations team throughout 2008, 140 inquiries focused specifically on MDM. As IT operations pros struggle to define their mobile strategy, they are grappling with the following questions: Which mobile operating systems (OS) should our business support? How can we provide better mobility support on a tight budget? Who within the organization should have a smartphone? There are no easy answers, but increasingly IT operations pros are making MDM and security the foundation of their business's mobile strategy.
