Summary

Key aspects of a green IT strategy started to appear in Q1 2007, with all the major vendors in EMEA reporting initiatives around adaptive technologies that maximize resources and reduce power costs. Customers continue to strongly demand consolidation and virtualization, and vendors put several key partnerships in place to provide for the next generation of efficient and scaled-up computing. The mature markets of Western Europe largely drove these trends, as the consolidation of existing complex infrastructures is becoming increasingly important here. Hewlett-Packard (HP) remained the largest player with 36% of the market; IBM followed with 28%, Sun Microsystems with 12%, Dell with 9%, and Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) with 7%. The total market stood at $4.1 billion, up 7.1% year on year.
