Healthcare is in the early stages of a shift from fee-for-service (volume) to risk-based payment (value). Population health management (PHM) is a requirement for navigating this shift. PHM is complex, and thus the technology platform decision is critical. Some large providers — the early movers in PHM — have built their own custom solutions. But for most providers, this isn't feasible, and increasingly, it isn't necessary. An almost too-large range of vendors is addressing this market. This report helps CIOs tackle the question of whether their organizations should buy or build PHM reporting capabilities and provides an overview of the range of vendors in this space.
