Summary

European enterprises expect to spend 31% of their 2007 telecom and networking budgets on mobility, and the majority expect that these spending levels will grow — so the need to manage mobility is a growing imperative. Many firms have not yet got their mobility spending under control, even though it has become the top enterprise networking goal, with 47% of European firms making it a priority issue for 2007. For companies that want to make that goal a reality, there is plenty of help on offer — vendors are queuing up to offer mobility managed services to European MNCs. Forrester advises firms looking for quick wins in managing telecom spend to adopt a central sourcing policy for mobility services; also consider taking advantage of managed mobility services, which make it easy to set and enforce corporate policies for the use of mobile devices. Above all, sourcing specialists need to help their companies get a grip on mobility spending through measures like more effective contracting and by pushing for companywide mobile device policies.
