When buying financial products, the typical European financial buyer seriously considers just two firms. The number of firms that buyers consider varies a lot by product and country, with Self-Directed customers comparing more firms than other customers. As the use of the Internet continues to grow in consumers' financial lives, we think weak existing relationships and rising competition will encourage customers to increase the number of firms that they consider for their next financial purchase.
