North American Government Needs Mobile Policies

Like their private sector counterparts, government managers are increasing spending on mobile technologies and services. But unlike most of their private sector counterparts, most government managers have yet to establish policies to effectively manage this growing IT area, thus exposing networks to unnecessary risks. Government leaders should take advantage of the lessons from more mature private sector industries, like telecom and utilities, and establish clear mobile policies that balance risk reduction with workforce flexibility and agency mission fulfillment.
