Summary

Most leading multinational corporations (MNCs) have already established their business in mainland China, and now other MNCs are planning to expand their go-to-market plans in the world's second-largest economy. Forrester finds that most MNCs to date have replicated their global outsourcing strategies in China, but quickly learn that those strategies don't work as well in China as they did in other countries. Forrester believes that it is time for these MNCs to reconsider their Chinese IT outsourcing strategies and localize their vendor selection approaches in order to successfully do business in China. This report summarizes and analyzes several discussions with MNCs and details the key lessons that multinationals with experience with outsourcing in China have learned.
