For years, burgeoning markets for innovation software, innovation services, and innovation consulting have been developing on the outer periphery of tech-industry patterns. In recent years, however, innovation management has been on a steady march to enter the mainstream of tech buying. In 2008, the innovation management marketplace developed significantly — thanks to an injection of new players and strong growth in both vendors' sales and marketplace demand. In 2009, a global recession will propel innovation solutions into corporate buyers' sweet spot. Forrester predicts six changes for 2009 in the innovation management marketplace that will have significant repercussions on the space for years to come.
