Users have to employ a plethora of software tools to effect a comprehensive workforce resource management capability, including project portfolio management (PPM), business process management (BPM), and human capital management (HCM) products. PPM vendors, with their products' resource management core, can fill a much broader market need than their IT organizations target. But Web 2.0 technology vendors, working from the bottom up, are busy building project/time management capabilities into their product sets and will vie with PPM and BPM for the line-of-business markets.
