Summary

Through continuous adoption of virtualization and cloud computing, the traditional provisioning model on which applications run has changed. Virtualization and cloud computing do introduce great savings and increase a company's agility; however, the new provisioning model also introduces some great risks, and business applications might suffer performance and stability problems. Business or software applications enable business processes and are therefore critical components of the business. The availability and performance of these business/software applications are watched closely by business executives and by IT. There is a variety of application performance management tools available, but for many companies the challenge of measuring, managing, and optimizing the availability and performance of software applications is having too many stakeholders approaching it from different angles.
