Enterprise software-as-a-service (SaaS) usage is proliferating across categories and companies see SaaS as a key enabler for customer-obsessed business. However, sourcing strategy for SaaS is often an afterthought for application development and delivery (AD&D) pros. The typical business-led, try-and-buy purchasing patterns for SaaS add risk and jeopardize the potential benefits. This report is an update to the January 2013 report highlighting five categories for successful SaaS purchases: category fit, technical fit, application development maturity, governance maturity, and sourcing maturity.
