Social Computing is increasingly becoming a part of the enterprise computing fabric, and one of the major benefits is more natural collaboration. As the industry continues to strive for better tools to allow team collaboration, knowledge capture, and greater visibility into unstructured data and processes, Social Computing tools like wikis are proving a valuable piece of the overall strategy. As these tools gain greater acceptance among knowledge workers, guidance from information and knowledge management pros (I&KM professionals) is necessary to ensure that their companies realize value, and to avoid use of these tools when others could provide greater value.
