Summary

In Q3 2011, Forrester fielded its second annual Global Sourcing And Vendor Management Priorities Survey to 156 sourcing and vendor management (SVM) professionals. In this survey, SVM professionals ranked daily responsibilities for one and three years out. The results were surprising: Forrester sees strong signs that SVM has crossed a watershed in its perception of delivering value as a strategic contribution to the business. In addition, SVM professionals told Forrester that they are prioritizing SVM role definition/organization and marketing SVM services across the organization. Viewed together, Forrester sees this as a strategic shift in the focus of SVM. Providing increased value to the business results in increased recognition, responsibility, and leadership for sourcing and vendor management professionals.
