Summary

Application rationalization — the program to right-size your business application portfolio — tests many of an IT organization’s processes. For example, governance processes designed to review and approve new systems based on business cases may not help simplify a bloated portfolio. But these same assets of the IT organization — teams, skills, processes, and practices — can do very well when tuned to the outcomes of application rationalization. This report, part of a series, describes how to take existing foundations in your strategic planning, enterprise architecture (EA), and application development and delivery and apply them to the challenge of application portfolio rationalization.
