Summary

Motorola's 75-year legacy of government partnerships in the wireless communications space will serve it well as it aims to become a trusted advisor to communities in the municipal wireless networking market. Its complete offering of robust infrastructure technology, applications, and deployment tools and services will attract communities looking for a partner in their networking projects but may turn away those municipalities in search of a low-cost deployment. While Motorola will win public-safety-focused deployments based on the strength of its reputation in mission-critical markets, it has a unique opportunity to go further and capitalize on its Symbol Technologies acquisition by offering integrated applications and management tools for devices for anchor tenants.
