Interest and activity in software delivery and operations using team-based (alternatively, pod- or squad-based) models has grown substantially during recent years. Much of the available guidance about team-based models assumes an in-house orientation, but global systems integrators (GSIs) are very much a part of the picture. To take full advantage of team-based models in outsourced scenarios, enterprises should move past their capacity-based thinking in favor of outcome-based strategies. Team composition, commercial model, and ongoing management are key considerations.
