Hydrasight notes that most unplanned IT outages are due to unapproved changes made to the configuration of production IT systems. Indeed, anecdotal evidence indicates that (mis)configurations account for 60%-95% of all such downtime. Irrespective, we believe that insufficient (automated) measures have so far been implemented by IT organisations to reduce the disparity between the IT operational processes for change and configuration management.
