Enterprises use public cloud for scalable, resilient infrastructure, innovative services, and lower costs; tech leaders use it to develop and host new apps and bring existing ones on-premises. Still, it’s rare to host disaster recovery (DR) for on-premises apps in a public cloud. The capex of existing DR, long-term contracts, and technical similarity between primary and DR systems all hinder moving DR to public cloud. While tech leaders want to replace their DR site or managed DR service contract with public cloud DR, doing this isn’t as easy as flipping a switch. Tech leaders must evaluate the technology, skills, and commercial nuances before pivoting. This report reveals the critical components of success.
