Security architects are recognized as senior security technologists who provide technical expertise between business and security teams. They’re often referred to as information assurance (IA) architects, information security architects, or cybersecurity architects (to name a few). They provide expertise to teams of IT architects, security administrators, and security engineers on projects intended to improve security infrastructure, create new architectures, or respond to security incidents. As subject matter experts (SMEs), they define the layered security defenses across organizations, building and assessing the architecture through a business and security lens.
