Summary

Forrester evaluated seven leading IT organization redesign consultancies against 40 evaluation criteria and found that all seven show an extremely high level of competence. Compared to most firms that do this, they are superior in their overall designs, connecting business needs to IT models, IT process definition, engagement preparation and account management, and flexibility of methodologies to accommodate different types of organizations. However, there are many differentiators among the seven, such as the application of methodology and assets, ability to communicate at all levels of IT and the business, and clarity and practicality of the company's future vision. Deloitte and Accenture lead the pack with the completeness of their methodologies, sophistication of their designs, and consistency and quality of execution. KPMG is similarly strong in these areas but more variable in the execution of projects. Capgemini specializes in organization redesign, but its level of customization is so high that redesign appears to be more of an art form than a science. IBM shows strength across the board and great potential in its component business model but weakness in reuse and its track record. Infosys and TCS are particularly strong in process design, have high value-to-cost ratios, and disciplined methodologies, but they show weakness in delivery consistency and communications.
