Digital sovereignty concerns are impacting organizations’ public cloud strategies. This is due to a new risk-management approach to sovereignty and novel regulations, such as NIS2 and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) in Europe, the Data Availability and Transparency Act in Australia, and older themes like China’s technology self-reliance policies. Vendors are responding, with a wide range of sovereign public cloud offerings from hyperscalers and local cloud providers and service providers entering the market. This report examines how organizations are addressing digital sovereignty when selecting cloud platforms and service providers.
