Summary

Both quantitative and anecdotal research has demonstrated that firms with good IT governance outperform those without. Good IT governance ensures that IT investments are aligned with the business strategy and return value to the organization and that IT operates effectively and efficiently. To gain perspective on the state of IT governance today, Forrester recently asked 108 IT decision-makers about their IT governance practices, including their IT investment management process. The survey results indicate that IT governance framework adoption has increased over the past five years; however, it is still not ubiquitous. The most striking finding from the survey was the continued absence of measurement and accountability for governance decisions at most organizations.
