Summary
The UK retail banking market is highly competitive, with many new digital banks. We reviewed the mobile apps of five established UK banks and three digital banks for both functionality and user experience (UX) in September 2019 to determine the leaders. Monzo and Barclays tie for the lead in UK mobile banking, offering intuitive money management and the best payments and money management features, respectively. Digital teams at banks must not only review what they offer to customers but also how they work together to design, develop, and deliver mobile banking experiences if they are to keep up with the leaders.
