Tapping Into US Demand For International Products

Summary

While the overwhelming majority of online shoppers in the US purchase only from domestic Web sites, more than one-quarter have bought items from online retailers based outside of the US. Among consumers ages 18 to 24, the figure goes up to one-third who have bought from non-US sites. Which categories have proven to be popular with cross-border online shoppers in the US? What are the reasons why some consumers are purchasing cross-border and others are not? This report will look at the behavior of cross-border online shoppers in the US and identify how online retailers based outside of the country can effectively tap into US consumer demand.
