VMware continues to figure prominently in cloud migration initiatives. According to the Forrester Analytics Business Technographics® Infrastructure Survey, 2021, 65% of infrastructure decision-makers report that their organization is moving VMware workloads to the cloud and keeping VMware as their API standard. VMware is a dominant player in the field of virtualization and many other technologies, thanks to its relentless product innovation (organic and inorganic) and strong partner ecosystem. Infrastructure professionals have built careers around VMware technologies. Embracing the placement of the VMware stack in hyperscalers will require additional investments, upskilling, morphing of tech operations, and security practices.
