Summary
As tech vendor strategists prepare their organizations for 2010, they envision more flexible and dynamic business models, which are capable of reacting quickly to the volatility in customer demand and the impact of mega trends. Forrester's recent survey of tech vendor strategists shows how mega trends such as the shift from information technology (IT) to business technology (BT) and the consumerization of IT are changing the tech industry. In addition to that, we wanted to know how tech strategists perceive the alignment of their corporate strategy frameworks. Customer alignment is still on top of the agenda for most vendor organizations, and, particularly, service providers' strategy frameworks are less balanced than those of their peers on the software side. For 2010, strategists should focus on more proactively adapting their strategy process to IT industry mega trends and driving innovation from a business perspective. They should also strive for better balance of their strategy frameworks by deriving vision and mission statements from the outside in, starting with the customers as opposed to the other way around.
