Summary
Continuing economic uncertainty, regulatory pressures, and the digitization of commerce will place further stress on European IT budgets and plans in 2014. The good news highlighted in our research is that IT leaders and business decision-makers are remarkably in sync with the major business priorities. The very bad news is that our research also shows a serious discontinuity between business expectations and IT performance. The growth in shadow IT and the willingness of business leaders to look outside the organization for strategic technology solutions and support exemplify the risk to IT of increased commoditization and relegation away from the corridors of power.
