SVP, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana

Shane Bray began his career in healthcare technology when he joined the Air Force shortly after graduating High School.  He left South Louisiana for the Service shortly after Hurricane Andrew, where he served as a trauma nurse and combat medic in the 75th Aerospace Medical Service.  As a Louisiana native he earned his Eagle Scout camping on the bayous, fishing the Gulf of Mexico, and serving the communities south of New Orleans.  He credits the Air Force for his education and training in both the field of Nursing and instilling the discipline and tenacity to continuously learn and improve. 

After more than a decade of direct patient care in post-surgical, trauma and emergency care, he made the life-changing decision to become a software engineer.  Upon graduating Cum Laude from Neumont University, he joined Extend Health as a Business Intelligence Engineer, a start-up that grew to eventually become the Nation’s largest Medicare Exchange serving millions of retirees and integrating more than one-hundred insurance carriers, and thousands of individual plans onto a single platform.  It was there he developed a passion for Customer Experience—leveraging his experience and expertise in both technology and healthcare to help retirees make informed decisions about their healthcare and prescription drug needs.  He became the first Chief Experience Officer at Willis Towers Watson in 2016. 

In 2020, After 13 years at Willis Towers Watson he joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana as their first Chief Experience Officer.  He brings 25 years of blended healthcare and technology experience.  He has tremendous passion for preventative and proactive healthcare and wellness, as well as utilizing modern technologies to simplify members’ lives and advocate for personalized, and meaningful customer-centric engagements. 

Shane is married with three children.  On his days off he can be found near a BBQ grill, spending time laughing with friends, or diving the warm waters of the Caribbean. 

Shane has lived in Texas, Colorado, Utah, Minnesota, Nevada, and California, but is most proud to call Louisiana his home.
