Often halfway up a remote mountain or out at sea, wind farms face many of the issues associated with applying the internet of things (IoT) in asset-intensive industries: Environments can be harsh, connectivity is erratic, and digitally skilled operations staff are rarely nearby. This report discusses the challenge of implementing IoT in remote industrial facilities and highlights the business benefits realized by those who manage to do so.
