The past few weeks have proven to be tumultuous for retailers as US retail sales have been adversely affected by COVID-19. While March was challenged, many of the moves toward social distancing only happened mid-month, which insulated sales in the earlier part of the month. However, April sales are slated to be hard hit because of widespread social distancing. The following slides include Forrester estimates of US retail sales in March, the outlook for April, and the industries we expect to have the most substantial shifts in the coming weeks.
