Retailers historically underinvest in new technologies because their business models tend to have thin margins, but many now believe that IoT can maximize the money they get from their customers, personalize shopping experiences, and cut costs. Retailers are investing or interested in IoT-enabled solutions including: powering omnichannel shopping, enabling personalized shopping, and optimizing store operations. In this report, we discuss the broader marketplace and the role of IoT solutions in helping retailers address key strategic and operational priorities.
