Summary
Industry analyst relations (AR) plans form the primary vehicle through which budget and staffing requests are made. Yet many of the plans that we review suffer from an unexpected omission. While full of details about AR execution, there's rarely any direct connection between these activities and the company's main business goals. In fact, business goals barely get a mention at all. Only when AR makes these explicit will the executives responsible for those goals understand, fund, and benefit from any enlargement of AR.
