CNN has created an army of engaged civilian reporters though the iReport feature of its iPhone app. By taking advantage of the advanced capabilities of today's smartphones, iReport both enhances CNN's existing content and expands its coverage to include what would have, previously, been unreported events. Like CNN, product strategists at a variety of consumer-facing companies can enhance, expand, and energize their existing portfolio of products by enlisting and empowering engaged smartphone owners.
