Consumer usage of generative AI (genAI) has grown exponentially since its introduction three years ago; most users point to personal reasons as their primary use case. Consumers have rapidly become comfortable with and trusting of genAI’s output: Only one-third of US online adults agree that they always verify sources using the provided source links. Despite an increasing reliance on genAI tools and their array of capabilities, consumers continue to experiment mostly with free models, with only one in five noting they have a paid subscription. This is a snapshot of Forrester’s September 2025 Consumer Pulse Survey data on US online adults’ interaction with genAI.
