Initially, public clouds made top-end infrastructure available at a cost-efficient price. The emergence of cloud-native services, born from open source and developed in the public cloud, has driven rapid innovation. In the next five years, cloud-native technologies will play a main role in digital enterprise, forcing companies to deal with the challenge of converting cloud-based operational expenses with capex-based budgets. Despite compelling business cases, I&O professionals are facing big hurdles in changing financial allocations.
