Application programming interfaces (APIs) underpin digital transformation by enabling agile solutions and new business strategies. As API pros create many APIs, they must: 1) organize and classify them and 2) ensure each type is designed well. An API taxonomy addresses these concerns and more as part of one’s API governance and management disciplines. This report provides API pros with principles and structures for establishing and refining an API taxonomy.
