While agentic AI technology is advancing rapidly, the development of design tools and methods lags. There is a noticeable and growing shortage to help construct agentic systems and AI agents. This report examines the relevance of traditional business process management (BPM) design tools and methods in addressing AI agent design challenges. It also proposes the necessary evolution for digital process automation (DPA) and robotic process automation (RPA) platforms, business process modeling tools, process intelligence (PI), and emerging AI agent platforms.
