Minimum viable product (MVP) is one of the most misunderstood and misused concepts in product management. Forrester defines an MVP as any output that requires the least amount of effort to build but delivers the best ability to learn about customers’ needs. Using MVPs in this way can save costs, improve agility, reduce waste, and enable quicker creation of products that meet customer needs. In this report, we introduce the MVP experiment model, which guides product managers through the creation, setup, and testing of a product experiment to ensure they achieve maximum learning with minimum effort.
