The skill demands for tech leaders run the gamut from highly specialized technical domains to business acumen to human and leadership skills. In Forrester’s High-Performance IT Survey, 2024, business and technology professionals most often cited problem-solving (36%) and innovation (33%) as among the five most important skills needed to be successful in their organization. The only domain-specific technical skill among the five most frequently cited is cybersecurity (32%), indicating its importance to the business.
